Coding for Culture - Microsoft
The Virtual Songlines team premiered their coding for culture project with the support of Microsoft
This program aims to empower young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to create pathways into digital economy jobs. With fewer young Indigenous Australians entering into Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), Coding for Culture seeks to increase STEM skills in young Indigneous students and ensure they can thrive in the digital economy through connecting them with their local culture.
The program is designed to inspire Indigenous and non-indigenous students to excel, discover new career paths they might not have considered, via the digital-native cultural heritage based survival game creation toolkit. The program is an 8 week self directed course in the development of a cultural survival game.
